Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 55 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 50g butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1kg onion, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 4 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp plain flour
  • 250ml dry white wine
  • 1.3l hot strongly-flavoured beef stock
  • 4-8 slices baguette (depending on size)
  • 140g gruyere, finely grated

Method:

Step 1: Heat the butter and olive oil in your Saute & Soup Maker and add the onions. Cook until soft.

Step 2: Sprinkle in sugar and cook until the onions are caramelised and golden, stirring frequently. Be careful not to burn them.

Step 3: Add garlic cloves and plain flour to the onions.

Step 4: Increase the heat and gradually add wine and beef stock. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Step 5: Toast bread under the grill.

Step 6: Ladle the soup into heatproof bowls, top with toast and gruyère, and grill until melted. Alternatively, you can grill the toast separately and add it to the soup before serving. Enjoy!

This is as sloppy a customer interaction as you could wish for. Morphy-Richards this reveals how the company feels about their customer base. If I were you I would do my utmost to avoid a “Ratners” episode.

YIP! No way you can make this exact recipe in a Morphy Richards soup maker! This is a on the hob recipe!

How do you increase the heat in the sauté soup maker?
How do you do all the frying and caramilsation in the max of 10 mins with the sauté function?
Bewildering. Obviously nobody producing these recipes fact checks them or even tests them out.

What a nonsense recipe, the instructions are for a saucepan on the hob not your soup maker!!
