The Perfect Cheeseburger

This cheese burger recipe is the best because it takes homemade burgers to the next level. The secret to this best burger recipe lies in its balance of juicy, tender meat and the crispy seared edges, giving you the ideal texture in every bite. It creates a mouthwatering burger experience that’s hard to beat!

Total time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 4 brioche burger buns, halved
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 600g minced beef (15% fat)
  • 4 cheese slices
  • 10 sliced pickles, cut into pieces (we like Dino’s Famous Chilli Stacker Pickles)

 Sauce

  • 2 echalion shallot, very finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tbsp liquid from the pickle jar
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • a pinch garlic powder
  • a pinch onion powder
  • a pinch sweet smoked paprika

Method:

Step 1: To make the sauce, mix all the ingredients in a bowl, adding a pinch of seasoning for extra flavour.

Step 2: Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat and generously brush the cut sides of the buns with melted butter. Toast in the hot pan until they turn beautifully golden and crisp.

Step 3: Turn the heat up to high. When the pan is sizzling hot, season the mince and shape it into four balls. Place two balls in the frying pan, pressing them down to flatten. Sprinkle with a touch more salt and cook for 2 minutes until they’re irresistibly crisp. Flip, sprinkle with a bit more salt, and cook the other side. Lay a slice of cheese on each patty, then cover with a lid for 30 seconds to let the cheese melt perfectly. Transfer to a plate and repeat with the remaining patties and cheese slices.

Step 4: Generously spread some of the sauce on the bases of the buns, then place the cheesy patties on top. Pile on plenty of pickles for a tangy crunch, then lavishly spread more sauce on the tops of the buns before closing them up to serve.
