Butter Burgers
This is the best burger recipe because it brings together juicy, perfectly seasoned homemade burgers with a tender and crispy crust. Every bite bursts with a rich combination of flavours, making this the ultimate burger recipe.

Ingredients:
- 50g softened salted butter
- 1 large onion
- 400g beef steak mince (at least 10% fat)
- 1 tsp celery salt
- 4 burger buns
- oil, for frying
- 4 slices monterey jack cheese
- sliced pickles, to serve (we like Dino’s Famous Chilli Stacker Pickles)
- American mustard, to serve
- tomato ketchup, to serve
Method:
Step 1: Melt half the butter in a small lidded pan. Add the onion and a pinch of salt, letting it cook slowly over gentle heat for 15 minutes until it becomes soft and buttery, without taking on any colour. Once perfectly tender, remove from the heat.
Step 2: Place the beef mince in a bowl and season it with celery salt and a generous grind of black pepper. Mix everything together with clean hands until well combined, then shape the mixture into four flavour-packed balls.
Step 3: Place each ball between two sheets of baking paper and gently press them into flat patties, making them at least 1cm larger than your buns (they'll shrink a bit in the pan, so don’t worry if they seem too wide).
Step 4: Heat a heavy non-stick frying pan over high heat. Lightly oil the burgers and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they’re beautifully golden and crisp. Top each burger with a slice of cheese, then cover the pan for a minute to let the cheese melt to perfection.
Step 5: Butter the buns with the remaining butter and layer pickles on the bases. Place the burgers on top, spoon the buttery onions over them, and then add the lids. Serve with ketchup, mustard, and plenty of napkins for a truly satisfying meal.
