How To Use A Garment Steamer

When it comes to keeping your clothes looking fresh and wrinkle-free, a garment steamer is a must-have tool. At Morphy Richards, we understand the importance of maintaining your wardrobe with ease and efficiency. Whether you’re new to garment steaming or looking to refine your technique, our easy to follow guide will walk you through the process step-by-step!

Why Choose A Clothes Steamer?

Choosing a garment steamer, particularly a handheld garment steamer, is a smart decision for many reasons. Firstly, it’s a time-saving tool that allows you to quickly remove wrinkles from your clothes without the need for an ironing board, making it ideal for quick Monday morning work shirt steaming or last minute school uniform steaming. Secondly, a handheld garment steamer is gentle on fabrics, making it a perfect choice for delicate materials such as silk, lace, and chiffon that could be damaged by a traditional iron. And let’s face it, no one enjoys setting up an ironing board!

Finally, the ease of use and compact structure of a handheld steamer cannot be overstated. Its compact and portable design means it can be packed into suitcases for on the go steaming. So not only is it a great at home appliance, it also fits into the realm of a travel steamer.

Next, plug in your Morphy Richards garment steamer and switch it on at the mains. The green temperature indicator will flash for approximately 40 seconds as it reaches temperature. It will be ready to use when the green power light remains constant.

3. Hanging The Garment

Preparing your garment is easy! Simply pop your garment onto a non-metal hanger and find a well ventilated space to vertically hang your garment!

4. Apply The Brush Accessories

5. Steaming

Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the steaming! To begin steaming, press and release the eco steam button. Steam will start to come out of the hotplate. Next, hold the hotplate approximately 1 inch from the surface of the garment and slowly move the garment steamer over the fabric whilst steaming. To stop the steam, simply press and release the eco steam button again.

6. Steam Boost

For heavier material or stubborn creases press the ‘turbo’ button for extra steam. This will help when tackling trickier creases. Then, simply press the turbo button again to stop the steam boost.

7. Using The Creaser

Great for tailored garments that require a crisp finish, to use the creaser simply press down on the rear end of the creaser to lift it up, then slip the garment underneath and close the creaser. Press the eco steam button and slowly move the garment steamer along the edge to create the crease.
