Celebrate St. Patrick's Day with this traditional Irish Soda Farls recipe. Get ready to bake the spirit of Ireland into your kitchen!

Ingredients:

  • 250g plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 heaped tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 225ml Buttermilk

Method:

Step 1: Start by tipping your flour into a large bowl, along with the salt, sugar and bicarbonate of soda - mix until combined.

Step 2: Make a well in the centre of your dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk. Stir to combine until the mixture resembles a dough.

Step 3: On a lightly floured surface, tip out your dough out and then knead briefly.

Step 4: Using a rolling pin, roll the dough roughly into a 20cm circle and then cut into quarters.

Step 5: Heat a skillet or heavy-bottom frying pan over a low-medium heat. Add the farls and cook for around 8-10 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

Step 6: Remove from the heat and leave to cool in the pan for around 10 minutes.

Step 7: Cut open and eat warm with plenty of butter!
