Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 200ml Absolut Vodka
  • 50ml hazelnut flavoured liqueur
  • 25ml herbal digestif or liqueur

For the ginger syrup:

  • 50g dark brown soft sugar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • strip of lemon peel

Method:

Step 1: Start by preparing the ginger syrup. Combine the sugar, ginger, cinnamon, lemon peel, and a pinch of black pepper in a saucepan with 50ml of water. Heat gently, bringing it to a simmer (keep an eye on it, as it may bubble up). Stir occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool and infuse fully.

Step 2: Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, discarding the lemon peel. Transfer the syrup into a 500ml bottle, then add the Absolut Vodka, all the liqueurs, and 100ml of cold water. Seal the bottle, shake well, and refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 3: For gifting, package the cocktail base along with these instructions: Chill thoroughly, then pour into four chilled glasses and serve immediately. The cocktail base will stay fresh in the fridge for up to three days.
