5 Valentine's Day Cocktails you need to try!
Valentine's Day is only weeks away, which means it's time to start thinking about how you're going to celebrate with your special someone. While a nice home cooked meal is always a great option, nothing sets the mood for romance like mixing up some fun and flavourful cocktails! After all, who doesn't love kicking back with a tasty drink and quality time with your valentine? This year, skip the same old wine and try one of these 5 unique valentine's day cocktails that are sure to start your evening off right.
Valentine's Gin Fizz
Ingredients:
- ice cubes
- 160g frozen summer fruit mix
- 50ml gin
- 300ml raspberry and rose lemonade, chilled
- ½ lemon, juiced, plus extra slices to garnish
Method:
Step 1: Divide ice cubes and frozen fruit between 2 tall glasses.
Step 2: Pour 25ml of gin into each glass and top up with the raspberry and rose lemonade (approximately 150ml each). Squeeze over the lemon juice and use a long spoon or skewer to swirl the cocktail.
Step 3: Garnish with a slice of lemon and serve immediately.
Rosie & Gin Cocktail
Ingredients:
- 250ml gin
- 250ml elderflower and rose cordial (or pomegranate and elderflower)
- 250ml fresh pink grapefruit juice
- ½ pink grapefruit, sliced to garnish
Method:
Step 1: Put the ice in a large jug.
Step 2: Add the gin, cordial and grapefruit juice; mix until cold.
Step 3: Strain into 6 glasses. Garnish with a grapefruit slice to serve.
The Classic Cosmo
Ingredients:
- 45ml lemon vodka
- 15ml triple sec
- 30ml cranberry juice
- 10ml lime juice
- ice
- orange zest, or a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
Method:
Step 1: Add your ice to a shaker
Step 2: Add the Vodka, Triple Sec, Cranberry juice and Lime juice to the shaker and shake before straining into a glass.
Step 3: Add your Twist of Orange zest or wedge of lime to the glass and enjoy!
Espresso Martini
Ingredients:
- ice
- 100ml vodka
- 50ml freshly brewed espresso coffee
- 50ml coffee liqueur
- 1 Tbsp Sugar Syrup
- 4 coffee beans to garnish
Method:
Step 1: Pour your sugar syrup into a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice, the vodka, espresso and coffee liqueur. Shake until the outside of the cocktail shaker feels icy cold.
Step 2: Strain into chilled glasses and garnish with coffee beans.
Passion Fruit Martini
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe passion fruits (they should have a crinkly appearance), halved
- 60ml vodka
- 30ml Passoa
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tbsp sugar syrup
- prosecco, to serve
Method:
Step 1: Scoop the seeds from one of the passion fruits into the glass of a cocktail shaker.
Step 2: Add the Vodka, Passoa, lime juice and sugar syrup, along with a handful of ice before shaking well.
Step 3: Strain into 2 martini glasses, top up with Prosecco. Garnish with half a passion fruit.
