How To Cook A Sirloin Steak

Wanting to cook a perfect sirloin steak? Our recipe is easy to follow and is perfect for a midweek dinner.

Ingredients:

  • Sirloin steak

  • 50g butter

  • Salt & black pepper

  • Sunflower or vegetable oil

  • Garlic (optional)

  • Robust herbs (optional)

Method:

Step 1: Season the sirloin steak with salt and do this 2 hours before cooking. Just before you’re about to cook, season with black pepper.

Step 2: Using the Morphy Richards Forged Aluminium Ceramica Square Grill Pan, heat until it is extremely hot but not smoking.

Step 3: Add a small amount of oil to the pan and leave to heat up.

Step 4: Add the steak, a lob of butter, garlic and robust herbs, if you would like.

Step 5: If you're not sure how to cook a steak, we've listed a few different ways so you can make it exactly how you like it. Simply sear each side evenly for the recommended time.

Blue steak - cook for 1 minute each side.

Rare steak - cook for 1 minute 30 seconds each side.

Medium rare steak - cook for 2 minutes each side.

Medium steak - cook for 2 minutes 15 seconds each side.

Well done steak - cook for 4 to 5 minutes each side, however this depends on the thickness.

Step 6: To have an idea of how ‘done’ you’d like your steak, prod the steak with your finger to see how soft it is, the more it cooks the harder it becomes.

Step 7: Once your steak is cooked, leave it to sit on a warm plate for 5 minutes.

Step 8: Serve the steak, drizzle it with the remaining pan juices and enjoy!
