Healthy & Fun-Shaped Toasties for Kids

Method

Prep for your family day out with fun and filling healthy snacks for kids. Use our Mico Microwave Toastie Maker to prepare cheese or veggie toasties in minutes. You can then make them child-friendly by using cookie-cutters to shape them into stars or animal shapes for a playful picnic addition. It’s a great way to sneak in nutritious ingredients like spinach or tomatoes.

Butter both sides of bread and place the sandwich in the toastie maker. Then add your filling of choice such as cheese, finely chopped spinach or other veggies. Microwave for the recommended time (typically 3–5 minutes). Once cooked and cooled slightly, use cookie cutters to shape the toastie into fun designs. You are then ready to pack them up for your picnic!

  • 2 slices of wholegrain or seeded bread
  • 1-2 slices of reduced-fat cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • A small handful of baby spinach or thinly sliced tomato
