  The last two Kenwood mixers have sheared the plastic gears very quickly, so I bought this one as I was told it has metal gears so I'm hoping it will last longer. It feels bulky, but not particularly heavy. I whisked egg whites very well, but didn't seem to manage very well with a sponge cake mix. We will see how it copes long term!
