Slow cook your way to a tasty Christmas

As much it probably doesn’t feel like it, now is the time to start thinking about cooking this year’s Christmas dinner. Slaving away by the oven for hours on end seems to be the norm at Christmas, but why do that when a slow cooker can take some of the stress away and produce a delicious turkey worthy of a Christmas family feast? Slow cooking is becoming increasingly popular as a healthy, cost effective way to cook traditional meals, and Morphy Richards have two fantastic slow cookers that would make great Christmas gift ideas.

The type of meat served always has to be a considered choice, as there is inevitably someone in the family who prefers something other than turkey! In this situation, the Morphy Richards Partition Pot Slow Cooker would be perfect as it allows you to cook two different dishes at the same time in the same cooking pot. This means that if your daughter wants ham, but your other half is adamant that you’re having a traditional turkey dish, then you can please everyone this Christmas! To see the partition pot in action, watch this video of Glynn, our design and innovation manager, exploring its features.

There is also the Morphy Richards Sear and Stew Slow Cooker, which allows for searing and slow cooking in the same cooking pot. With three different cooking settings, the succulent flavours and juices synonymous with a traditional Christmas dinner would be retained. The pot also features a non-stick coating, which makes it quick and easy to clean, even during the dreaded post-Christmas meal wash up.

As you can see, there are plenty of reasons for using a slow cooker this Christmas. If you do fancy doing something a little bit different this year in using a Morphy Richards slow cooker, then we have a couple of tips to help you out:

  • If you are cooking turkey, make sure to cook it with the breast side facing the bottom of the slow cooker. This is the section that would normally take the longest to cook.
  • Spread some chopped apples at the bottom of the slow cooker when cooking ham, and even add a little bit of cinnamon for an extra bit of flavour.
  • It isn’t just useful for the main course; you can use a slow cooker to make your Christmas Pudding too.
