Sagada Soup – Soup Maker Recipe

As we move closer to Christian Aid’s ‘Super Soup Lunch’ on Friday 25th March, here at Home of the House Proud’, we’ve got another delicious soup maker recipe to bring to you. Today it’s a delicious Sagada Soup, a recipe that’s popular in the Philippines, a country that some of the money raised as part of ‘Super Soup’ lunches up and down the country will be going to. If you try this recipe, we’d love to hear from you!

Sagada Soup

Recipe serves 4


2kg Tomatoes (you can include green ones)

1x Tablespoon of vegetable oil

2x Cloves of garlic, chopped finely

2x Shallots, finely sliced

1 Litre of broth (Chicken or Vegetarian)

1x Cup of coconut milk

Fresh pepper to taste


  • Wash and chop the tomatoes
  • Fry the garlic and shallots until light brown
  • Add all of the tomatoes and let it fry for another five minutes, stirring frequently
  • Add the broth, cover it and let it simmer for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally
  • Add the coconut milk and let it simmer for another 10 minutes
  • Before serving you can add some chopped chives or any fresh herbs you may have at hand
