Do you live in a hard water area?

Have you ever been carefully ironing your freshly washed laundry when your iron decides to deposit a rusty brown stain on your garment? Our consumer engagement centre seems to receive calls from disgruntled ironers about this problem on a daily basis. But don’t worry, this doesn’t mean your iron is broken; it could be down to the fact that you live in a hard water area.

If you live in a hard water area you may notice that your other appliances such as kettles and washing machines become ‘furred’ with use because of added calcium, magnesium and other minerals which are present in hard water.

To keep your iron in tip top condition, make sure you choose a product which features an anti-scale system.  If you do live in a hard water area and have a steam generator, make sure to change the cartridge about once every 4-6 weeks. Using demineralised water to fill your iron’s tank rather than tap water will help prevent limescale build up, meaning your iron will perform at its best for longer.

Our expert team of Morphys are constantly working on ways to make household chores hassle free and ensure your products stay good as new for longer. Intellidome, Morphy Richards’ state of the art new steam generator, has not one, but two features to prevent limescale build up. A removable anti scale cartridge and a flushable boiler system. So there’ll be no need to worry about brown water marks spoiling your beautiful whites.
