Brilliant Bonfire Night Recipes

We love celebrating Bonfire Night; it might be a chilly November evening but that doesn’t stop us huddling around the fire to watch the fireworks. Plus when you celebrate by inviting friends and family over for a Bonfire Night party, it’s a great excuse to serve up some delicious hearty food that will warm you up from the cold. To give you plenty of time to join in the festivities and not miss out on all the sparkler twirling, we’ve got three easy recipes that your guests will love. They’re hassle-free to make using the Morphy Richards Compact Sear & Stew slow cooker and the Morphy Richards Soup & Milk Maker.

Winter Broth

Ingredients:

2 tbsp olive oil
75g minced lamb
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
1 carrot
1 potato
1 turnip
1 tbsp plain flour
900ml water
2 lamb stock cubes
400g tin of lentils
½ tsp rosemary
2 bay leaves
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp parsley
Pinch of salt 
Pinch of pepper

Cooking time: 50 minutes, Serves: 4

Ingredients:

4 medium or 3 large chicken breasts
400g BBQ sauce (shop bought)
6.3g paprika
6.3g chilli powder
Pinch of pepper

Cooking time: 6 hours, Serves: 4-5

Try something new for your Bonfire Night feast and serve up delicious BBQ pulled chicken instead of the more traditional hot dog. A generous helping of slow-cooked BBQ chicken is excellent served in a bread roll topped with a spoonful of coleslaw. Rice Pudding

Ingredients:

40g unsalted butter
150g pudding rice
150g sugar
1.5l milk
Pinch of grated nutmeg

Cooking time: 4 hours 15 minutes, Serves: 6

A classic cold-weather dessert, dishing up a generous portion of rice pudding is a special way to round off the Bonfire Night festivities. Make your own batch by adding all the ingredients to the Morphy Richards Compact Sear & Stew slow cooker then cooking for 4 hours on a high setting.
